The latest overview of the real estate market in Vietnam
Total foreign investment amounted to USD 10.1 billion in 1Q21, up 18.5% y-o-y. Specifically, FDI disbursement totalled USD 4.1 billion, up 6.5% y-o-y. Even though the FDI influx has shown a rebound trend in comparison to the previous year, the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic sweeping across the globe has forced countries to roll back the plans to ease the restrictions on international travel and thus, hindered the global capital movement.
Of the 17 sectors invested in 1Q21, the Electricity production and distribution industry took the lead at nearly USD 5 billion, accounting for 50% of the total registered investment. Manufacturing with USD 3.9 billion ranked in second place, equivalent to 39% of the total. Following by real estate activities with USD 600 million. In terms of investment partners, Singapore lead in 1Q21 with nearly USD 4.6 billion, accounting for 45.5% of the total investment. This was followed by Japan and South Korea with USD 2.1 billion and USD 1.2 billion respectively.
